JetBlue, the low-cost carrier that came to Charleston amid great fanfare in 2013, surpassed 1 million passengers enplaned at Charleston International Airport on March 16.

In celebration, the airline treated customers on Flight 1274 to New York City to refreshments at the boarding gate, gifts upon boarding and inflight bingo for the chance to win two pairs of travel certificates. Flight 1274 is the aircraft that sent JetBlue over the 1 million enplanements mark. Enplanements are people boarding a departing flight at CHS.

Campbell Jr., Aviation Authority executive director and CEO. “JetBlue has been with us through significant changes, including our terminal redevelopment, and has been integral to the growth the airport has experienced in the last five years. We look forward to seeing them proudly serving the Charleston region for many years to come.”

JetBlue began service at Charleston International in February 2013. The airline, which is celebrating its fifth year at CHS in 2018, currently flies nonstop to Washington, D.C., Fort Lauderdale, New York City and Boston.

Charleston International Airport and the Charleston County Aviation Authority joined JetBlue in celebrating on Friday.
