After nearly four decades of tracking, U.S. job satisfaction has reached a new high in 2026 — but rising averages alone are not a signal of success, according to The Conference Board.
The global, nonprofit think tank and business membership organization said that beneath the surface, disparities across income, gender, and AI adoption reveal a workforce experiencing change unevenly.
It also said that as organizations navigate technological disruption and evolving expectations, leaders will need to look beyond headline metrics and focus on the specific drivers of satisfaction that shape engagement, performance, and long-term workforce resilience.
The 2026 iteration of the survey, started in 1987, measures job satisfaction among U.S.-based workers across a range of industries, jobs, and professions.
