Dixon Woodward has been United Community’s state president for South Carolina and Coastal Georgia since 2019, but he has more than 20 years of experience in the world of banking. He began his career with TD Bank and then moved on to Carolina First Bank before joining United Community in 2015. In his current role, Woodward is responsible for retail and commercial teams in South Carolina for the Greenville-headquartered bank. He holds degrees from University of South Carolina, South Carolina Banker’s School, and Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking. He also was a Riley Institute Diversity Fellow. Woodward has served on the boards of the College of Charleston Foundation, the Charleston Regional Development Alliance, South Carolina Arts Commission Foundation, and the South Carolina Aquarium. He is a former co-chair of the American Red Cross Clara Barton Society. He also has been involved in volunteering and philanthropy with such organizations as Trident United Way and American Cancer Society. Asked about what’s next for him in shaping Charleston’s future in 2025 and beyond, Woodward said, “Continue United Community's support of our clients and the economic prosperity of Charleston business community while investing time and resource in the many wonderful initiatives that are so vital to our community.”
