Blackbaud CEO Mike Gianoni Joins NGS as Strategic Adviser

Mike Gianoni, president and CEO of Blackbaud and chairman of the board at Teradata, has made a strategic investment in Newmoyer Geospatial Solutions LLC (NGS) and joined the company as a strategic adviser.

Gianoni has spent four decades leading technology companies across software, cloud, and financial services. For more than a decade he has led Blackbaud, the Charleston-based cloud software company serving nonprofits, schools, foundations, and health care organizations around the world. He is widely recognized for building strong teams and durable company cultures, and for growing software businesses well beyond where they started.

NGS has spent 17 years building secure, interoperable geospatial systems for government, defense, and commercial customers. In recent years, that work has expanded into software the company owns and operates. CoreSpatial, the NGS open-source geospatial platform, now runs inside customer and partner systems, and the NGS AI advisory practice is helping commercial companies put AI to work in their operations.

Gianoni's investment and involvement come at the start of that next phase. He will work with the NGS leadership team on strategy, growth, and the path from engineering services company to software company at scale.

"Mike has built software companies at a scale few founders ever reach, and he has done it by hiring well, thinking long term, and holding a high standard for the product," said Jason Newmoyer, founder and CEO of NGS. "Having him invest in NGS and sit alongside our leadership team is a significant step for the company. We know how to build mission-critical systems that work in the field. Mike knows how to build a software company around them."

Newmoyer remains CEO, and the teams and points of contact supporting customers are unchanged.
