TSA Sets Charleston Passenger Screening Record
Apr 18, 2018 02:27PM ● By Kathleen MarisTransportation Security Administration officers working at the Charleston International Airport (CHS) checkpoint screened a record 8,374 passengers on Sunday, April 15.
The previous Sunday (April 8), TSA screened 7,972 passengers, breaking the previous high of 7,742 set on May 7, 2017.
With prior planning and support of the airport and airline partners, TSA was able to work efficiently throughout the record-breaking day. Wait times throughout the day remained at less than 20 minutes in standard screening lanes, and less than 10 minutes for TSA Pre passengers.
With Memorial Day weekend and the start of summer travel season approaching, passenger volumes will continue to increase. TSA strongly recommends travelers arrive at least two hours prior to their scheduled departure times to ensure adequate time for ticketing, checking baggage, and security screening.
