Prior to moving to Charleston in 2006, Tony Deering served as an officer in an elite army unit in South Africa. He has worked alongside some of the world’s pre-eminent scientists in the field of blast and ballistics. On arrival in the United States, Deering supported the MRAP vehicle program that ultimately saved the lives of many thousands of service members during the Global War on Terror. For the last 18 years he has played a key role in providing critical structures to the Department of Defense, and he is the current sitting representative of the Submarine Industrial Base Council for the South Eastern United States. Twelve years ago, Deering founded R2P Innovations with the single-minded mission to save the lives of school children in the case of an armed assault on campus. R2P produces the world’s most advanced bulletproof doors and was recently recognized as the No. 5 fastest growing company in the United States and the No.1 fastest growing company in South Carolina.
