Eugene H. Walpole IV serves as president and CEO of The Bank of South Carolina. Having joined the bank in 2012, Walpole progressed through the roles of assistant vice president, vice president, senior vice president, and risk management officer. He became chief financial officer in 2016, executive vice president in 2017, and on Oct. 1, 2023, president and CEO of the bank and company. He also administers the bank’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan. A Charleston native, he previously conducted audits, regulatory reviews, and SOX 404 testing for financial institutions. He holds degrees from Presbyterian College, the University of South Carolina, and South Carolina Bankers School, and is a CPA, CFSA, and CRMA. Walpole has served on the Lowcountry Land Trust Board and serves on boards including the Coastal Conservation Association and the Preservation Society of Charleston.
