Buxton & Collie LLC

Charleston

Age 35

A proud South Carolinian, I graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2013 and have spent the past 11 years as a corporate paralegal with Buxton & Collie, LLC. I support our business law attorneys on complex transactions, including private equity deals, corporate formations, professional practice transitions, and mergers and acquisitions — work that directly fuels the growth and success of local businesses, helping entrepreneurs build strong foundations and expand within the Charleston economy. I'm passionate about keeping our practice on the leading edge of legal technology. In 2024, I was invited to speak as a panelist at Clio Con, a national legal technology conference, on efficiency in document management for large-scale private equity transactions. I collaborate with Clio on software ideas to keep our office equipped with efficiency-boosting tools. Looking ahead, I plan to deepen my transactional expertise while championing smart technology use in our field. Outside the office, I volunteer with Surfers Healing, providing transformative surfing experiences for children with autism, and advocate for the shrimping community’s vital role in the Lowcountry’s economy and environment.

Favorite Quote and Why: I’m not afraid of storms, for I’m learning how to sail my ship. – Louisa May Alcott. I love the meaning behind it that no matter what life throws at you, learn how to adapt and grow.

Definition of a Successful Leader: A successful leader embodies integrity, humility, vision, and clear communication. I feel fortunate to work alongside leaders who embody these qualities. What I’ve come to appreciate most isn’t just what they know — it’s how they make the people around them feel: seen, supported, and capable of more than they realized.

Advice to 18-Year-Old Self: Trust the process and be kind to yourself. Seize the opportunities that come your way and surround yourself with supportive and motivating people.
