VP Business Advocacy
Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce
Charleston
Age 27
I am the vice president of business advocacy at the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, where I lead the Chamber’s advocacy team and state lobbying efforts to advance policies that strengthen the Charleston region’s economy and quality of life. A significant part of my work is advocating for Joint Base Charleston and the military missions that are vital to our community and state. I currently serve as an Air Mobility Command Civic Leader, an advisory role appointed by the Commander of Air Mobility Command. In this capacity, I serve as a civilian ambassador for the U.S. Air Force’s global mobility mission and work to build understanding and advocacy for Joint Base Charleston throughout the Charleston community and beyond. Long term, I hope to continue growing as a leader in public policy and advocacy while helping shape a stronger future for South Carolina. To me, giving back means using my voice, relationships, and leadership to serve the community I call home, advocate for those who protect it, and create opportunities for future generations to thrive.
Favorite Quote and Why: “You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.” – Dale Carnegie. This quote resonates with me because I believe strong relationships are the foundation of effective leadership. In advocacy, success often comes down to listening, understanding different perspectives, and finding common ground. I try to lead by genuinely investing in the people around me and building relationships based on trust and respect.
Definition of a Successful Leader: A successful leader is someone who earns trust, brings people together, and leaves their organization or community better than they found it. They lead alongside others, not from behind, by listening, understanding different perspectives, and finding common ground.
Advice to 18-Year-Old Self: Trust the process, say yes to opportunities that challenge you and help you grow, and stay true to your values along the way. You won’t always know where a decision will lead, but every experience and relationship will shape the person and leader you become. Don’t be afraid to take the opportunity just because you don’t have the whole path figured out yet.
