Rachel Haan began her career with Northwestern Mutual in 1999 as an associate financial representative. She has led McBee Avenue Wealth Advisors as chief operating officer since 2018 and was named partner in 2024. She is responsible for integrating the major functions of the business, guiding strategic initiatives, HR, finance, and marketing. Haan loves living in her hometown of Greenville, where she and her husband David are the proud parents of three grown children.
I started my career very young with no relevant education in my field, which led to a struggle with imposter syndrome. I sometimes wondered if I deserved my seat at the table. Then a coach said: “If you don’t act like you know everything, you won’t feel like an imposter.” The freedom to lead with humble curiosity — asking questions and admitting what I don’t know — has brought authenticity and real fulfillment to my work.
I’ve learned that my strengths are God-given, and pretending they don’t exist is false humility. I serve others best at work by recognizing my gifts, refining them, and using them without apology. Just as important is spotting and elevating the unique strengths of others — that has been done for me many times in my career and it’s the best way to build a great team.
