Balfour Beatty has been awarded $42 million to deliver Morrison Yard, a new 10-story Class A office space in downtown Charleston.

Keith Corp. and Origin Development Partners have selected Balfour Beatty to provide preconstruction and construction management services to oversee the completion of the officer tower for future tenants at the foot of the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge near the Charleston Harbor.

Located in the Upper Peninsula district, the state-of-the-art office tower will feature sustainable design and construction elements and will be one of the city’s first major projects to pursue Charleston RISES, a building certification designed to address the specific green building needs, priorities and strategies for the South Carolina region.

The tower will include 140,000-square-feet of office space, 8,000 square-feet of ground floor retail and a four-story parking deck for approximately 377 cars.

Balfour Beatty said it will leverage the latest technologies and lean construction methods to deliver the new office tower, including utilizing drone technology to provide tenants with potential views of their new office space.

Construction for Morrison Yard is slated for completion in Summer 2022.

Balfour Beatty is an industry-leading provider of general contracting, at-risk construction management and design-build services for public and private sector clients across the United States.

Performing heavy civil and vertical construction, the company is part of Balfour Beatty plc (LSE: BBY), a leading international infrastructure group.
