Hall Management Group Announces Sale of Old Village Post House Inn

William Hall, Sr., CEO of Hall Management Group (HMG), today announced the sale of the Old Village Post House Inn, a restaurant and 6-room inn located in the historic Old Village of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.

The new owners are a group of local investors, OVPHI Partners LLC. Edward Robinson of the Beach Company represented the seller; the sale price was not disclosed.

"Most of my career I managed and operated first-class hospitality and lodging properties for Ritz Carlton," said Hall. "So four years ago when our family was presented with the opportunity to own an historic inn in the Old Village, we couldn't have been more excited."

The Old Village Post House Inn was one of four restaurants HMG purchased from Dick Elliott's Maverick Group in 2015 that included, at the time, High Cotton and Slightly North of Broad (S.N.O.B.) in downtown Charleston, and High Cotton in Greenville, South Carolina, which was re-branded as Halls Chophouse Greenville in 2016.

The Old Village Post House was built in 1896 as a private residence and retail store. It was reconfigured in 1984 as a restaurant on the bottom floor with six overnight rooms on the second floor. In 2015 Hall Management Group completed major renovations to the infrastructure, dining rooms, bar and kitchen.

"I'm disappointed and deeply regret that we are selling this wonderful inn but lodging properties no longer fit our rapidly expanding core brand business, Halls Chophouse fine dining steakhouses," said Hall. "However, we couldn't be happier that the new owners are neighbors, local business people who have great plans for the Post House. Their planned improvements are tremendous and will greatly enhance a wonderful property in the Old Village."

"We are also very pleased that we have been able to reassign most of the staff including General Manager Margaret Robey and Executive Chef Chris Thompson to positions within HMG," added Hall.

HMG opened their third branded Halls Chophouse in Columbia, South Carolina in December and will open their fourth in Nexton (Summerville), South Carolina later this spring. Planned expansion for 2019 includes two more Halls Chophouse locations in two adjacent states.

HMG, which has more than 1,000 employees, also owns Rita’s Seaside Grille in Folly Beach, South Carolina and Halls Signature Events at 5 Faber in downtown Charleston.
