Deaf Singer Mandy Harvey to headline Sounds of the Heart fundraiser show for SC School for Deaf and Blind

"Sounds of the Heart with Mandy Harvey" is a concert scheduled for April 18, 2019 at the Charleston Music Hall to benefit the S.C. School for the Deaf and the Blind (SCSDB) Foundation.

Mandy Harvey, deaf vocalist and former America's Got Talent finalist will headline the event with performances by the SCSDB choir. Mayor John Tecklenburg will emcee the concert.

A Vocal Music Education major at Colorado State University, Mandy lost her residual hearing in 2006-2007 at age 18 due to a connective tissue disorder, and left the program. She pursued several career options, including education, but returned to music in 2008.

Mandy has made a tremendous impact by way of America’s Got Talent having reach the finals and was Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer Winner. Mandy performs at the world’s most prestigious clubs, concert stages and festivals.

The SCSDB offers a top-quality, special educational environment that requires continual investment in new forms of advanced learning, as well as new methods of delivery. The school has evolved to meet this need by serving more than 250 students at the Spartanburg campus and more than 1,400 children through statewide outreach programs.

The SCSDB Foundation is a nonprofit organization supporting the school’s on-campus and outreach programs by raising money to supplement state and federal funding. We’ve contributed more than $15 million to offset the high costs associated with advanced instructional programs, technologies and equipment, capital improvements, and personal student needs. These additional resources are vital in helping the school keep pace with the specific educational needs of children with hearing and sight impairments.
