Charleston International Airport (CHS) announces that July 2018 passenger counts rose by 20 percent over July 2017. To date, 2.6 million people have flown in and out of CHS in 2018.

“We are so fortunate to have this kind of growth and support, not only from those people who live here and book their flights here but from those traveling to Charleston, either for business or for vacation,” said Paul G. Campbell Jr., executive director and CEO of the Charleston County Aviation Authority.

In July:
- Enplanements – the number of people boarding a flight at CHS – rose 19.3 percent from 189,039 people last year to 225,590 people this year.
- Deplanements – those people flying into CHS – climbed 21 percent from 186,237 people last year to 224,693 people this year.
- Total passenger counts for January through July rose by nearly 275,000 people compared with the same period in 2017 – 2,576,946 people compared with 2,302,094 last year.

Robust air service improvements, along with growing business/manufacturing and tourist sectors, have helped CHS consistently grow over the last decade.

“This year, we have welcomed two near airlines and added a half dozen new destination cities to the flights schedules. We continue to work diligently to offer the air service that our customers want to see in Charleston,” Campbell said. “We are grateful to the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau for its efforts to share with the world how great it is to live, work, and visit the Lowcountry.”

Charleston International Airport is served by eight airlines: American, Delta, Southwest, United, Frontier, Allegiant, Alaska, and JetBlue. The airlines currently fly nonstop to 30 airports in 25 cities across the U.S.
