JW Aluminum Expanding In Berkeley

Jun 11, 2018 02:55PM ● By Kathleen Maris
JW Aluminum, a manufacturer of flat-rolled aluminum products, announced plans to expand its existing Berkeley County operations. The facility's growth is expected to bring $255 million of capital investment and lead to the creation of 50 new jobs.

Founded in Mount Holly, S.C. in 1979, JW Aluminum has established itself as a leading producer of flat-rolled aluminum, which is used in a variety of consumer and commercial products. With four aluminum mills throughout the country, the company manufactures building and distributor sheets, fin stock, cable wrap, honeycomb foil, and more.

Located at 435 Old Mount Holly Road in Goose Creek, S.C., the expansion of JW Aluminum's existing operations includes the construction of a new, 220,000-square-foot building and the installation of green, state-of-the-art technology.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved a $500,000 Set Aside grant to assist with the costs of infrastructure improvements.

"It's an exciting new chapter in JW Aluminum's story and a considerable progression in our strategic journey," said CEO Lee McCarter. "As a domestic supplier, we've prevailed in an extremely challenging competitive environment. The outcome of this endeavor will empower us to produce superior product for our customers, provide increased value to our stakeholders and serve as a preferred supplier and employer for decades to come."
