ICL Expanding In Dorchester

Jun 07, 2018 02:58PM ● By Kathleen Maris
ICL, a leading global supplier of specialty minerals and chemicals, is expanding its existing manufacturing operations in Dorchester County. Aiming to increase capacity, the company's investment is projected to create approximately 25 new jobs.

ICL is an Israel-based firm that operates three mineral chains in an integrated business model. The company extracts raw materials and utilizes sophisticated processing and product formulation technologies to add value to customers in the agriculture and industrial industries.

ICL's operations are organized under two segments: the Essential Minerals segment and the Specialty Solutions segment. The Essential Minerals segment includes three business lines: ICL Potash and Magnesium; ICL Phosphate Commodities; and ICL Specialty Fertilizers. The company's Summerville, S.C. facility is part of its ICL Specialty Fertilizers business line.

To expand, the company will be relocating its Ohio operations to its existing Summerville, S.C. facility, which is located at 2755 West 5th North Street. The expansion is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2018.

"ICL Specialty Fertilizers has enjoyed many years of successful operations in the Lowcountry," said Director of Operations Craig Bova. "The business climate and culture have always been a great fit. We are very excited about the investment at our Summerville site and look forward to the continued partnership with the county and the state."
