Charleston International Airport’s social media efforts have been honored for excellence by public relations professionals throughout the state of South Carolina.

@iflyCHS on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram received the 2018 Silver Wing Award of Excellence in Social Media during this month’s annual Mercury Awards put on by the South Carolina Public Relations Society of America (SCPRSA).

Since 2013, the airport has focused on using its social media channels to engage and communicate with its customers through information that connects travelers to great destinations, creates an exceptional travel experience, and introduces followers and visitors to the greater Charleston area.

Nearly 4 million people annually use CHS for their travel needs. The airport’s social media channels, which are managed in partnership with Chernoff Newman, have more than 25,000 followers.

“It is gratifying to see that our efforts to engage with our customers are resonating on social media, which we recognize as an important communication tool in today’s busy travel world,” said Paul G. Campbell Jr. “The airport’s social media is a vital part of our strategic priorities to enhance and sustain our air service and to provide passengers with unparalleled customer service while operating the airport in the most efficient, safe and economical way.”

The SCPRSA accolade marks the second time this year CHS social media has been honored for excellence. The Charleston American Marketing Association named @iflyCHS Best Facebook Presence during its 2018 SPARK! Awards in March.
