The South Carolina Association for Justice, the state’s leading voice for plaintiff attorneys, has a new director of development. Courtney Mitchum Barts joined the group to manage their fundraising and membership recruitment efforts and will coordinate multiple development campaigns in regions across South Carolina.

Barts graduated with a joint degree in Marketing and Management from the University of South Carolina’s Moore School of Business. She worked for the South Carolina House of Representatives for several years, with a majority of that time spent with the Ethics Committee. Most recently, Courtney led the Republican House Caucus fundraising efforts, specializing in messaging, events, and giving programs.

"We are excited to welcome Courtney to our team," said SCAJ President Hugh McAngus, Jr. "She has the right background of policy and fundraising, making her an ideal fit for our organization. We look forward to her helping us achieve our overall mission of advocating for a fair and accessible justice system."
