Independently owned, Mexican-inspired taqueria and bar Cantina 76 will open its fifth full-service location in Mount Pleasant. This is the South Carolina-based restaurant group’s second location in the Lowcountry, following the opening of its location on Kiawah Island in 2017.

Cantina 76 serves an assortment of tacos, dips, and other taqueria favorites, as well as a selection of hand-crafted margaritas. Executive Chef David Grillo sources fresh and local produce with a significant portion of the menu being made with S.C.-grown ingredients, varying based on what is in season.

Located between Shem Creek and Sullivan's Island, the 3,477-square-foot space features indoor, patio, and bar seating with the bar extending into the patio.

“The Mount Pleasant location will be an ideal spot for families, individuals, or groups of friends that are heading to Sullivan’s Island and want to grab a quick meal on the way or stop by after a long beach day for dinner and drinks,” says Rob Ward, co-owner of Cantina 76.

Co-owners Jeb Babcock, Chad Elsey, Rob Ward and Craig Wyatt founded Cantina 76 in 2009 with a location in Columbia. The group has since expanded to include a second Columbia location, as well as one in Greenville, one in Kiawah Island, and now the Mount Pleasant restaurant.

“We’re very excited to open our second location in the Charleston area,” says Elsey. “We have grown up coming to Charleston and visiting friends and family around the area. We hope this new location will become a favorite spot for locals and out-of-towners alike.”

The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Cantina 76 Mount Pleasant will be located at 819 Coleman Blvd. Hours and menus can be found at www.cantina76.com.
