Thermo King, a provider of transportation refrigeration solutions, is locating new manufacturing operations in Berkeley County. In order to serve the growing automotive sector in South Carolina, the company is investing $2.6 million and creating 25 new jobs.

With existing locations in Columbia, Florence, and Myrtle Beach, Thermo King is a manufacturer of transport temperature-control systems for the automotive and trucking industries. The company offers a complete line of heavy-duty compressors, driers, condensers, and more, along with full-service repair capabilities.

Through its new operations, the company will be supporting Mercedes-Benz Vans' local operations by upfitting the new Sprinter Van model with heavy-duty mobile air conditioning solutions.

"We are excited to expand our business in the dynamic Charleston market," says Ritchie McQueeney, Thermo King Charleston's president. "The new Thermo King of Charleston facility will allow our company to support our clients, improve delivery, and optimize custom options in the ever-changing transport temperature control and automotive industries. We look forward to growing with our customers and believe the assistance from the State of South Carolina and Berkeley County help provide a competitive business environment for us to thrive."
