362,851 people – 12,095 people a day – flew in and out of Charleston International Airport in October. That’s a 24 percent increase over the same month in 2016.

The jump comes after monthly passengers counts fell 10 percent in September due to hurricanes in Charleston and elsewhere that closed airports and cancelled flights.

“We more than made up for last month’s dip. With the holidays upon us, we will surely hit 4 million passengers by the end of 2017,” said Paul G. Campbell Jr., executive director and CEO of the Charleston County Aviation Authority. “October, with mild weather, has typically been a strong month year after year. A robust business climate and tourist trade continues to help fuel our growth.”

So far this year, 3,320,718 people have flown into and out of Charleston International. By comparison, at the end of October 2016 the total passenger tally was 3,107,308, a 7 percent increase.
