#21 Circuit Board Medics, LLC
Founded in 2010, Circuit Board Medics, LLC provides circuit board repair for automobiles, appliances, and other electronics. Located in Greenville, the company receives shipments from around the world and ships them back at low cost and with a one-day turnaround.
What are the keys to your company’s rapid growth?
Some of the qualities that differentiate us are our exceptional customer support coupled with our one-day turnaround and commitment to excellence. Our customer support team truly believes it is a privilege to serve others.
What do you see as your company’s greatest opportunities in the future?
Our greatest opportunity is to have a positive impact on our customers’ lives by restoring normalcy that a simple broken appliance or automobile has robbed from them. We don’t just repair circuit boards; we solve people’s problems and make customers’ days end better than they started. This passion to serve others inspires us to grow our business for an increased impact on the world.
What are your biggest challenges and how do you plan to overcome them?
Recruiting at the same speed as our growth is our biggest challenge. We are serious about hiring the right people and not just filling an open position based on a set of skills. To overcome this, we are hyper-focused on our hiring strategy and continuing to make CBM the best place in the world to work.
What advice can you offer someone just starting a business?
First, be an individual contributor to your team. Your team depends on you to understand their challenges and help overcome the obstacles that impact their success. Secondly, connect people to the purpose. Lastly, hire employees that will be honest with you. Understand that as an owner, the only real feedback regarding your job performance is from your team. If you create a culture where honest and constructive criticism is valued, it flows both directions.
Does your company’s geographic location offer any specific advantages?
Yes, Greenville is a great place to hire top talent.
How many employees do you have and do you plan to add any in the coming year?
We currently have 30 team members and plan to hire 12-18 more within the next 12 months.
Have there been any entrepreneurs in your family?
How is your company legally structured?
What is the hardest thing about being a founder?
Achieving a good work/life balance is difficult when there’s opportunity for improvement, and there’s always opportunity for improvement.
What is the best thing about being a founder?
Seeing a team come together to achieve common goals is a powerful thing, and I have a unique perspective on how all of our people work together. I have had the opportunity to work in every role of our company, and it gives me an entirely different appreciation of the effort that it takes to complete a repair with a one-day turnaround!
If you are a founder, at what point did you start paying yourself?
I began taking a salary two years after incorporating.
